Is anyone else looking for a partner in Canada for traditional search fund?
Hi all, I’m based in Calgary and getting ready to raise a partnered traditional search fund focused on Western Canada. I’m looking for a co-searcher who wants to buy, run and grow one business together, and who is open to building it into a platform through add-on acquisitions over time. About me: * MBA, with a background in software and project management * Led post-M&A integration as a digital PM in the automotive sector * About 2 years studying and actively working in lower-middle-market M&A; completed the CM&AA certification. I’ve built my own sourcing pipeline * Working with a couple of local business owners on growth initiatives * Strongest at business analysis, diligence prep, systems and process, and leading teams through change Who I’m looking for, Someone whose strengths complement mine, ideally: * P&L ownership, general management, or a sales/business development background * Comfortable leading owner conversations and investor pitches * A long-term owner mindset rather than a quick flip * Prior acquisition experience is a plus Initial thesis (open to shaping together): * Geography: Western Canada first, open to the rest of Canada for the right business * Targets: established, profitable B2B or essential-services businesses with about $1M–$3M EBITDA, recurring or repeat revenue, and owners planning succession * Model: a traditional search fund (LP structure) raised from experienced search investors, with roll-up potential after the first acquisition If this sounds like you, or you know someone it would fit, please comment or DM me. I’m happy to set up an exploratory call to compare notes, theses and working styles. Feedback from experienced searchers and investors on the approach is also very welcome. Thanks & Regards, Naresh Ravula
