Search partners on opposite coasts

Hi All - I'm based on the east coast and exploring partnering for search (likely self-funded) with a partner on the west coast. Fit seems good (aligned values, goals, complimentary skills, etc.) but neither of us are in a position to move for the next few years. I'm wondering how the mechanics of acquiring+operating a business that is not close to either of us to would work? Has anyone else addressed this issue? Thanks in advance!
