Search Fund Associate

Decatur Road Capital is a search fund backed by a team of entrepreneurs with success investing in, operating, and growing private companies. We seek to identify, acquire and operate an existing private company with an entry enterprise value between $10.0 - $40.0 million. We are funded by over 10 seasoned entrepreneurs, executives and investors. The Managing Partner of Decatur Road Capital is a graduate of the University of Virginia - Darden School of Business and has a background in consulting & the legal industry. The internship will involve a hands-on learning experience with many of the core activities involved with running a startup private equity firm. An Associate will develop a fundamental understanding of how middle market companies are bought and sold. Additionally, the training program will cover business fundamentals like structured problem solving and investment strategy. Associate Job Description Research and identify attractive industries based on structured investment criteria Develop investment theses and an understanding of business models for selected industries Review of confidential information on potential acquisitions; Business opportunity modeling Participation in phone calls with investment bankers and small business owners Who Should Apply Candidates who have a natural curiosity for how businesses work, a tenacious attitude towards research, are resourceful and have the ability to think independently.
