Search experience in South East Asia / Emerging Markets

Can anyone share their experience searching in South East Asia / other emerging markets. I am considering a search / family business SME M&A in INDONESIA, but before i commit to it, would like to learn from others.

I had initial contacts with business owners but they tend to be more skeptical due to how they view the family business. They see it as their life.... Initial observation, many business owners as they aged tend to take less projects thus the business would experience slow continuous decay until its eventually closed (we ended employing most employees of a competitor this way)

My family business is in the drilling industry (artesian, dewatering, energy, mining and foundation) and my theses is to grow horizontally, leveraging our existing client base (over 42 years)...
