Gang, has anyone had any experience applying for/ obtaining SBIR grants? It's a bit of an esoteric field (less search and more startup), however I'm working on an investment thesis that would leverage these. If you've had experience and would be willing to link up via phone call, please let me know. I appreciate you!

Garrison - I won numerous SBIR/STTR contracts as a PI in my tech startup company, as well as partnered with other companies on winning NIST ATP contracts, totaling 7 figures in funding under my management (not including other federal research contracts that my partner won and managed as PI). In one NIST ATP solicitation, we were the only company to win funding on 3 proposals (out of the 4 we submitted). We were able to leverage these contracts to bootstrap our startup, which ultimately had an 8 figure exit.

We focused our efforts to get products resulting from our projects in customers' hands ASAP instead of waiting for Phase III to maximize the benefit of the federal funding to our growth as a startup.

Happy to chat if you'd like. Feel free to DM me or contact me via email.

Garrison- I apply directly myself as PI and also team with others as a sub. I've won one this past year as PI, but have supported an additional 4 winning applications in various ways in same time. With most reaching Phase II.

It is a reasonable value add, but those who build companies doing only this do not make sense to me.

Doing these requires dedication to approach, then dedicated personnel to execution (and reporting!).

Feel free to connect on DM. Happy to team/support if needed.
