Do rollups work in a geographically tight area?

I was wondering if anyone had any experience rolling up small service companies like landscape in a geographically tight area? Seems like the biggest challenge would be finding other small companies willing to sell..

There are some interesting opportunities in smaller regions. I've talked to several home services businesses (call them $2-3m in revenue) who buy "phone numbers" in small surrounding towns...for like $25,000. They take their platform, get all the calls, and eventually add warehouse space and trucks. It's can accelerate expansion into new areas. Lot's of retiring 1-5 person businesses that can just be tucked into a larger platform. Not simple or massively accretive, but if you really want to pursue it, there is certainly a path.

At Search Fund Plus, we've developed geographic tools to identify businesses in tight areas, making rollups more feasible. By targeting small service companies, like landscaping, within a concentrated region, our tools help pinpoint potential acquisition targets efficiently. While finding willing sellers can be challenging, our targeted data and outreach help overcome that hurdle. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to learn more about how we can support your rollup strategy.
