River Guides - How to find them?

Hi, I'm looking to reach out to well-connected individuals in the industries that are of interest to me. I hear that I should get such contacts from Industry associations, trade unions etc. however when I google it, I don't find any useful leads. Probably I'm not searching for the right thing/ keywords. Any experience or advise on how to find such industry leaders in one's local geography would be highly appreciated!
