I am thinking of doing a traditional search fund by getting money from 15 different investors. Do you think I should mainly ask for US investors or Japan investors? I am inclined to raise capital 50% from each country.

Research I’ve been doing on behalf of New Zealand searchers suggests international investors want to see significant local investment. This is because of the time and cost to actively provide governance and local advice. Seems to me best to go 50/50 or perhaps 100% Japanese. Ganbatte kudasai.

Bruce-san, thank you for your comment. I also approached some us investors and they said 50/50 is a good balance.
