I noticed a lot of comments and questions on here related to list making.

Whether you're curating a list of target businesses or broker intermediaries, I highly recommend Google Alerts. You just enter in the keywords that would be mentioned on a webpage or news article of interest and Google will email you a notification with a link and description based on your desired preferences.

At any given time at our search fund, Grafting Legacy, we have anywhere from 3 to dozens of Google Alerts set up in order to capture company names and websites which we later put into LinkedIn/ZoomInfo/Contactually for contact info and programatic outreach.

So does this work best when searching within an industry? Trying to understand exactly how this works to source new targets. Thanks for the post!

Yes. Try to figure out what keywords would be mentioned on websites, press releases, etc. based on the industry sector you are targeting.
