QofE pricing?

We've seen a lot of QofE quotes ranging from 10 to 50k and we were wondering what are the price drivers and how to distinguish good quality QofE providers. Especially for small transactions, when does it make sense to invest in this and how much is a reasonable amount?

We actually offer ours at $6,000. I agree the pricing is all over the place. I strongly suggest interviewing several firms, getting examples of their products, and comparing them to see what best fits your needs. A QoE is not an audit, review, compilation, or a different procedure that has a strict line of procedures to follow and a specific outcome. They differ largely from provider to provider. Feel free to email me at redacted or schedule time with me that works around your schedule using the Calendly link below: https://calendly.com/josh-tonnesenaccountingservices/30min Another key item to consider is referrals. I would recommend talking to people in your network to see who they recommend (or don't) as well. We have had 44 5 star reviews this year on our google profile. From a provider's perspective, The price largely changes on the size of the engagement too. I have found that deals that are below the 10M purchase price mark are fairly similar in terms of level of effort. But when deals get larger, the there are more stakeholders we need to present work to, questions we need to ask and answer, and just a generally higher level of effort. A QoE for a 50M acquisition is significantly more work than a 1M. Many firms price them all to account for the higher end of that range, while we do the opposite. We target and price for the SMB market, and will upcharge for larger deals (if necessary).

In general, for all Due Diligence expertise, would recommend spending less than 1.5% in total of the deal size (for QoE/Fin,Legal,Tax, Tech etc) with approx half as monthly progress payments post LOI and the remaining balance at deal close. For QoE, wouldn't spend more than 0.3% of the deal size (i.e. less than $10k) depending on the different components you need (add backs, NWC, proof of cash, tax-to-P&L mapping, rev recog, non-cash items, deferrals/accruals/other YE adj, etc)
