Purchasing a trade business without a license

Hi Searchfunder! Has anyone here successfully completed an acquisition of a trade business (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, etc.) in a state that requires the license holder to own a percentage of the business? It's worth noting that I do not have a license. I'd love to chat with anyone who has successfully accomplished this to understand how you structured the deal.

I've looked into this and found a lot of awesome businesses but they're not quite big enough to make sense by the time I put a master electrician or licensed HVAC person in, and that's even with me putting a family member in that role...it suddenly becomes 'their' business

Following - Running into this same hurdle where the founder/owner is the only one in the business who has the required license to operate. I assume you can plan to hire or bring someone in who has a license, but curious how people here view the risk of buying a business that is vulnerable to the license holder leaving
