My local library database has access to this website:

Data Axle Reference Solutions (Formerly ReferenceUSA).

Most likely your library will have the same website in its database. It is free to use and you search all sorts of companies with various criteria (i.e. Revenue, Company Size, SIC Code, NAICS Code, etc.)

Proprietary search is a confusing and difficult topic. I am going to start sharing what I learn on a weekly basis so that way other people can learn along with me as well.

Anyone know the points Data Axle pulls it's data from, and how old the listings are? I have a couple of older businesses that don't show up at all, and newer businesses with wildly inaccurate numbers that I can't even imagine where they're pulling their data points from. So trying to judge the accuracy. What do you guys think?

Also for college students, there would be plenty of other hardcore resources for free at your library. I remember I had access to a Bloomberg Terminal! If you're not a college student you may be able to purchase a membership for the purposes of access to the library/digital content.
