Project Engineer / Field Engineer – Generator Installations (Seaside, CA) Posted: November 2, 2025 Pay: $40 – $50 per hour Type: Full-Time | In-Person Help Build and Scale a Growing Power Systems Company OnPoint PowerGen is an entrepreneurial, growth-focused business providing installation, maintenance, and repair of large residential, commercial, and industrial generators. Our mission is to deliver reliable, resilient power solutions for homes, businesses, and critical facilities across California. In the last two years, we’ve completed two acquisitions — expanding our customer base, capabilities, and geographic reach — and we plan to continue acquiring and integrating new businesses at a similar pace. We’re looking for a hands-on Project Engineer who wants to be part of that growth story. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible the design of our installation projects as well as for coordinating manpower, customers, and managing on-site logistics, tools, rental equipment, and materials related to generator installation and service projects. This role is responsible for overseeing the permitting, safety documentation, and ensuring quality control and quality assurance on all projects. You will collaborate with subcontractors, lead scheduling, and participate in project planning meetings to ensure that all work aligns with our high standards. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the high-level design of installation projects, including generator placement, electrical and gas routing, and compliance with local building codes. Maintain a strong focus on delivering exceptional installation quality. You’ll be supported by our in-house electricians, who ensure designs meet electrical codes, and our mechanical team, who ensure all gas work complies with applicable standards. - Coordinate with the customers to arrange manpower for on-site generator installation and maintenance projects. - Manage materials, tools, and rental equipment on-site. - Manage site walks with potential customers, and bid jobs accordingly. - Prepare bid packages for RFPs. - Procure major equipment for new projects. - Oversee and maintain all quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) documentation. - Assist with field training and ensure field workers have access to the most current project documents (drawings, submittals, RFIs). - Collaborate with subcontractors and assist in project scheduling meetings. - Perform material takeoffs and assist with change management. - Create and manage production goals for field teams to ensure efficient operations. - Assist with daily site activities and provide technical support to foremen. - Assist in creating and completing project as-builts. Work Area & Office Dynamics: Our service operations cover areas within a 50-mile radius of Seaside, California. A company vehicle will be provided. Daily commuting to our office is required. What We’re Looking For - 5+ years of experience in construction, electrical, or mechanical industries - Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and problem-solving skills - Capable of managing field crews and multiple concurrent projects - Excellent communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment - Valid driver’s license and ability to work from our Seaside, CA office If you are an experienced Project Engineer looking for a challenging role with opportunities for growth, we encourage you to apply.
