This is a commercial security integrator serving the Memphis metro area, including North Mississippi and East Arkansas, specializing in access control, security cameras, automatic door systems, commercial doors and hardware. The business brings together disciplines that rarely live under one roof: traditional locksmithing, automatic doors, and low-voltage electronic security. As the owner puts it, most companies only do one or the other; this one takes care of everything on the door. The automatic door segment in particular is attractive because it combines higher-ticket sales with strong product margins, generating significant gross profit dollars per project while also creating opportunities to cross-sell the rest of the company’s door and security portfolio once the company is on site.
Founded in 2016 and operating in Memphis since February 2017, the business has spent the last year executing a deliberate restructuring: reducing headcount, cutting excess vehicles, and trimming overhead while continuing to grow revenue. Net operating income improved to more than $200,000 on the most recent trailing-twelve-month basis. Historically, as a closely held C-corporation, owner compensation and corporate earnings were managed with tax efficiency in mind. In preparation for a sale, the owners also right-sized the business so the current operating structure more clearly reflects the earnings profile a new owner would inherit.
Revenue is split roughly 58% labor and 42% equipment and materials, with services spanning access control, commercial doors and hardware, cameras, intercoms, locksmithing, and automatic door systems. Approximately 76% of annual revenue is generated from repeat customers, including established national service-provider accounts. The business has built long-term customer relationships and earned formal recognition as a “Supplier of the Year.” New customers come through referrals, online search, partnerships, and an internal sales team. The business has also proven resilient through economic disruption, growing revenue through COVID-19 and continuing to grow despite repeated price increases on imported products and equipment over the past two years.
The company has nine employees averaging approximately six years of service, providing an unusually experienced operating team. The business has demonstrated that it can operate effectively without the owners being involved in day-to-day field activity.
The business holds multiple state alarm and contractor licenses across Tennessee and Mississippi. Every technician, along with the field supervisor and salesperson, holds an individual Registered Employee alarm license and performs alarm and low-voltage work under the company’s Qualifying Agent. The owner currently serves as the company’s Qualifying Agent and is committed to remaining in that role during the transition until a successor is properly licensed and in place. He has also identified a candidate to succeed him in the Qualifying Agent role, subject to the new owner’s agreement. This reduces a common transition risk for buyers in the security industry.
As part of the FlyLock Security Solutions franchise system, the business also benefits from franchisor-provided support, including a website, scheduling and invoicing software, National Account Sales, and call center services, giving a new owner infrastructure that is already in place rather than something to build from scratch.
The owners are ready to retire and are looking for a buyer who will take care of the team and the reputation they’ve built. They are very flexible on transition terms and committed to making the handoff as smooth as possible.
