Part-time Search Feasibility

Wondering if anyone has successfully closed on a good business searching part-time (while working another ~40/hr week job) and not taking the traditional search fund route of funding a 6-24 month full-time search? I'm considering the part-time search route, but have read advice against it from HBR.
