I wanted to see if anyone had any good recommendations of how they brought in some part-time money during their self-funded search. Fire away.

I didn't bring in part-time money while searching- I worked full-time while searching. At one point I was working full-time at both HP and Amazon. The best situation for a self-funded searcher is to have a full-time job so that they can "fund their own search". There are plenty of people who will advocate for self-funded searchers to search "full-time". I'm not one of them- for A LOT of reasons. If you're already searching and looking for side hussles to support yourself, the best options are to either get a job or launch an agency full-filling some sort of need in the market that you can fix. Happy to dive deeper into this if you're interested.

I was able to find part-time "consulting" type work while searching. As you begin searching, you'll likely be doing a ton of networking with anyone you know who can advise you on your search and/or put you in touch with business owners. As I did such networking, I usually ended my conversations letting people I was available in a PT or project-based capacity to do [growth strategy, corp dev, fundraising, sales] type work. I had a one-pager that summarized the work I could do, which honestly was so so effective, and ultimately my resume was what I ended up circulating alongside it. After a few months, I got gig with the portco of a local PE firm helping their CEO build out some sales infrastructure / strategy. It was pretty fortunate and if I didn't get that, I'm not sure what would have happened, but I did have a few other leads for fractional roles.
