Out of Country Acquisitions? Canada? Mexico?

You some time see what appears to be interesting businesses for sale on sites like Bizbuysell that are located in Canada/Mexico. Has anyone had success acquiring in these countries as a US citizen? I assume SBA wouldn't apply in a country like Canada. I wonder what the debt instruments would look like and deal structure.
