Office space + intern best practices

What have folks done to keep office space costs down while utilizing interns for their search? I'm seeing suggestions to keep office space at $500 / month or less, but in my experience, private offices could run well over $1000 per month, even on the outskirts of smaller cities. What have other searchers done to solve this problem?

If there is a WeWork in your town get a Amex Business Platinum that comes with a free year of Hot Desk access worldwide. It has everything a searcher needs. Won't find a better deal.

We are based in an office of a bigger company, I spend an hour per week giving the owner some growth advice and subsequently we agree to make that the contra for rent.
