Hi, are there any lenders that are willing to lend to Canadians for a US business acquisition. As we are Canadian, we are not eligible for SBA loan.

Edit

I have had a few amazing individuals reach out. Seems like the best opportunity is to try for a larger loan and more EBITDA target. Will keep posted on the details.

Looked at a US based acquistion/recap in the spring that had asset backing and talked to conventional and alternative lenders on both sides of the border without any success. In that case, there was limited operating history due to their previous business model which didn't help. That being said there are a number of US based capital sources in the SF community that you can track down through the search function that might be able to give you a better sense. EDC would be an option if it was in Canada and selling into the US, but doesn't sound like that is the case.

BDC is an option, depending on how much you're looking for. I received a loan from BDC to acquire a business in Norway, under the condition that the Norwegian business would become a subsidiary of our Canadian headquarters.
