My first thought: “Are they bailing on me?”

The CEO and COO are going to be out of the office the first Friday after taking over. I found out on Wednesday.
The fear brain took over first. Luckily I have a team. I talked to my transition planning lead.
“That means they trust you,” she said.
I asked them - why take off so soon.
Answer: “I can celebrate and take the first weekend to unplug since January.”
They’ve been dealing with this deal, a car crash in the family, a death in the family.
After the deal closed, tech broke, and the power went out. They solved all of this on their own the weekend before I came on site on Tuesday and after I already owned the business. Other sellers would have called me and put it in my lap even though I was out of the state.
They have been hammered for the past month with unexpected issues.
Now, they’re taking the afternoon off and unplugging. I’ve given them the opportunity.
Some things really do end up well. Let yourself appreciate the good stuff. It’s still a struggle for me. Writing it out helps.
This is one of those moments where we grow to accept the good as it comes.
Be happy for it.
