Over the past several years, there has been a considerable increase in interest among prospective entrepreneurs in the Holding Company (or “Hold Co.”) model. To help us better understand all things Hold Co., I could think of no better guest than Michael Girdley.

Michael is an entrepreneur and investor who has spent the past 30 years building a personal holding company boasting over $100M in annual revenue, comprised of 12 businesses across software, technology, consumer retail, and education, among others.

Among countless other topics, in our discussion today we cover what holding companies are (as well as what they’re not), the types of entrepreneurs that tend to be drawn to the model, why there has been such heightened interest among entrepreneurs over the past few years, what separate great Hold Co. entrepreneurs from good ones, and a lot more.

Please enjoy!
