This is embarrassing..

A lot of you are seasoned vets, so it's embarrassing to ask if you know anyone who would be willing to mentor me through the process of pulling off my first deal?

My employer got rid of my entire department recently so now I'm laid off.. the good thing is that now I have a lot of free time to use productively.

I've been learning M&A over the past few years on and off and I think now is the time to take that leap of faith and do something about it.

It's embarrassing because I haven't taken any action and now I'm forced to decide on going down the path of buying businesses or continue grinding in a 9-5.

So if you know anyone that would be able to mentor me, that would change my life and I'd be forever grateful.

I have less than $10,000 saved but I'm young and have a lot of time on my hands now. I'm not looking for a handout. I'm willing to work, in order to learn and get experience.

So if you know anyone that would be able to help, please let me know or share this post with them.

Thank you

Nothing embarassing about asking for help. In fact, we see these types of requests quiet often on DueDilio. If my read is correct, you're looking for an M&A coach or deal sherpa to assist you with the business acquisition process. We have many of those types of professionals in the DueDilio network. Their typical rate is $150 to $250 per hour and they would request a small retainer to start working with you. https://www.duedilio.com

Another option is to seek our learning programs such as SMBoot Camp, Acquisition Lab, and Contrarian Thinking. Those are probably going to be a bit more expensive but could be worth it depending on what you're hoping to get out of it.

Sorry to hear about the layoff but hope it turns out to be a blessing in disguise.

Check out SCORE.org.

I was immediately connected with an extremely successful and well qualified ex-exec who is invaluable and also very generous with his time. It's completely free. In my experience, the better mentee you are, the better your mentor will be, so prepare well and sell yourself the best you can.

Also, contact your local SBA. They frequently have formal programs.
