^redacted‌ has earned his place as a mentor, thought leader, and pioneer within the search fund ecosystem. I have been fortunate to call him a mentor and friend for over 10 years now, and I am thrilled that he agreed to join me on the podcast.

In this week’s episode, we discuss the realities of running a business during high inflation environments, something that I imagine is on the minds of all SMB CEOs given that inflation rates are currently at 40-year highs. We also discuss how CEOs should think about pricing their products and services in response to inflationary pressures, and finally how they should deal with vendors who attempt to pass through price increases to them.

Prior to his time at the Harvard Business School, Jim was the CEO of a SMB for over 20 years. He is now an active investor in small and medium sized businesses, holding ownership positions in more than 50 entrepreneurial companies.

Please enjoy!

You could be making a big mistake if you want to buy a business in 2023 whose offering/selling value/price is not discounted at least 15% from what that same company would have sold for on the same terms before the 2022 increase of interest rates.

And, think again if the seller won’t finance a larger portion of the buyer’s purchase price with a repayment schedule longer than what would have been acceptable early 2022.
