I have an off market deal for a specialty metal manufacturer with very high end uses (Medical, Laser, Aviation). Some of the equipment is over 100 years old and the owner is 70. If the owner goes away so does the business. The only way this has a chance of working is if I could find a highly skilled machinist or someone that can learn how to use/replace the machines with something more modern. I need someone that can talk and listen to old manufacturing equipment.

If you have any recommendations, please let me know!

Thank you

Hi Ely,
Couple thoughts here:
1- 100yrs old machines is a problem, I have seen it in the fasteners MFG world. Most everything else is CNC which is 1980 and up.
2- Is he the only machinist in the shop? 2.5M EBIDTA is a good size shop in the manufacturing world. For this size I would expect 15+ people on the floor plus production planner/ manager and other shop staff.
Happy to chat if it helps!

This is a tough one. I would post on job boards of industry related associations, zip recruiter and other similar sites. If you have to retool 100% you might be better off buying another business first and then buying just the book of business from this one.
