Hello! I am looking into doing a self-funded search fund in Latin America and was interested in talking to other women who have gone through / are going through this process (specifically self-funded searchers). Any recommendations on who I could reach out to?

Hi Maria, I'd be happy to connect. I am self-funded at the moment and lived/worked in LatAm for about 5 yrs. I go back a lot as well with a lot of connections there too. I've been in tech but am searching in a few different industries but in the US. Though, I know in Zona Libre , Panama there are probably some opportunities--I was just there; there are an a bunch of companies that are changing their business models and consolidating. The older money is transitioning, so there are some plays to be made I'm sure. I'm not looking there but happy to help/connect/share etc..

I did self funded in Puerto Rico, which is a little different because SBA lends in PR since it is considered part of the US. There is another female searcher here, Stivaly Gomez, but she is doing a variation of traditional.

I think Lionel Peralta did a self funded search in Costa Rica a few years ago if my memory serves me correctly.
