I am raising a search fund in London. I already have a few investors from friends and family, however, I would find it very useful to discuss with someone that has invested in a search fund before and understand the motivations behind such investment (what made them tick, what risks were they most worried of, etc.)?

Hi. I’m a very new investor to this asset class. I’m currently in the midst of deciding whether to jump in with a small stake in a pre due diligence of a target (basically a self funded search). Now working on trying to adapt my usual venture capital or Angel investment checklist to searchfunds. Also trying to better know who the searcher is, capabilities and strengths vs weaknesses and blind spots. That’s the main issue when investing globally. I think some investors focus on their on region, and they gain an upper hand by being closer to the searcher and targets. Being in the U.K and other major markets, you probably have a good chance to raise funds locally.
