Do you see any benefit to joining your local chamber of commerce?

I'm thinking about getting involved.

Any insight helps.

Thanks!

I'd recommend it only if your search is super local. I've joined two Chambers near me. The best thing has been joining a smaller networking group (20-ish members). It took some time for the other members to warm up to me and understand what this search fund thing is all about. I made it a point to patronize their businesses whenever possible and scheduled coffee chats to get to know people 1-on-1. Now most of them are super eager to connect me within their network. I've gotten several leads on deals from them recently.

I have joined multiple chambers and have had varied success. I try not to 'direct prospect' these events. I care about my local community and I am genuinely interested in meeting other business owners and seeing how I can help them. Some chambers are full of small contractors and some chambers have more of a B2B crowd. Check them out. I have always preferred the larger chambers for the diversity of types of businesses. Try also reaching out to the chamber president/CEO I have one that continues to be a great referral source for me for retiring business owners. Its definitely a long term mindset!
