Leveraging on-campus access to your MBA program

I have the good fortune of living in the same town as my MBA school campus. I'm in the very early stages of learning about search funds and exploring the best way to go about getting started. I've scheduled a Q&A session with a faculty from the school's entrepreneurial center, but beyond this I'm looking for any advice on leveraging in-person access to an MBA program as an alum that I may not be considering.

In my mind, this should be a great asset, especially in the early stages of getting a fund started, and unfortunately I had no awareness of search funds while I was a student, so I've never tapped this source's potential for aid.

Thank you for any suggestions!

I used to live in the same city as my MBA programme. It wasn't until I began looking into search funds that I discovered how many resources there were on campus! I found that the greatest assets were professors who either worked with searchers/investors, or had previously worked with searchers/investors. They vastly opened my network to alums that I never even knew were working on their own search or invested in searchfunds. That in itself opened the door to a ton of valuable information about the best way to start searching and questions I need answer for before I began my search in earnest.

Hi Peter. There are many specialists in the industry that are willing to share knowledge by delivering talks and MBA schools are a great environment to promote those discussions. I believe you can approach faculty and/or existing student clubs in your MBA and help them set up those events locally
