I'm currently coaching the owner of a law firm with 35 associates. He is the single equity owner. He has 3 top lawyers who are "name" partners only but no equity is shared. They get comped via salary and a performance bonus. We identified his top three qualities for partners: trustworthiness, grow client base, and connections. I keep asking to add visionary leadership - defining long term goals and ability to execute on them - but he only trusts himself on this category, which is why he hasn't shared any equity.

Looking for your perspective on what law partners look for in each other to share ownership of their firm.
