Is there a comprehensive playbook for a deal?

Given that its been done a million times over, I'm sure there's a comprehensive checklist of everything that needs to happen for setting up a search fund, raising the money, finding the target company, completing the transaction etc.

I'm sure there are variations, but an indicative checklist to alleviate the concern that I've missed a step that could bite me at a later stage would be super helpful.

Does anyone have a link to such a checklist or playbook?

Check out the Standford Search Fund resources. Along with the headliner 'Primer' doc, there's a number of Exhibits that includes a sample DD list and other items you may find useful.
Then, I would recommend connecting with the M&A community in your local area. For example, up here in Vancouver, we have the Business Transitions Forum (BTF) and certain M&A advisors run half-day seminars to inform sellers and buyers of key considerations. In my experience, these folks are open to chat up an individual such as yourself in general practice.
Sitting down with someone can be even more helpful than just a list, but also, you may get a list out of them too.
Good luck!
