Has anyone surveyed or seen a credible report that tells us whether owners, sellers, and brokers are more impressed when approached by a searcher identifying as an individual person or as a business entity? If so, please share your insight.

I particularly would like to hear from people on the other side of the dealmaking table; sellers and their representatives.

My interest is solo, self-funded searchers. Not Searchfunds.

I’m asking this because there seems to be some negative reaction, particularly among the brokerage crowd, re Searchfunders.

This is a great question. I, personally, feel presenting yourself first would be a more effective approach because we can't forget the relationship aspect to business acquisition and mergers. Sometimes, I've personally witnessed dealings that happen strictly due to such a great relationship being created, first and foremost, then business numbers came into the conversation. With a honest and genuine relationship, things will be far less sugar coated and, more less, straight to the point. Hope this helps.
