If the intention is to remove from the seller the sense that he or she can drag you along since you're not making an income, and thus extract a higher price, I wouldn't be too concerned about that - I think improving your positioning is better accomplished by explaining that you're looking at other deals (while obviously expressing sufficient interest in this current seller's business).

Actively tell people, no. If you have not taken the time to update your resume or LinkedIn, that’s fine as long as you tell people the truth when they inquire.
