Desktops as Service (DaaS) are workstations deployed in the cloud. Employees access the desktop remotely and perform all work-related tasks on these virtual desktops. It’s conceptually similar to accessing physical machines in the office. This setup just allows multiple desktops to be rapidly provisioned and fully controlled by the business.

Curious if anyone is using such services or similar. If not, would this be beneficial to your business in our new remote work culture?

Amazon has a DaaS service called Workspaces. They are running the following offer:

Beginning April 1st, we are offering Amazon WorkSpaces for up to 50 users at no charge for new WorkSpaces customers, offer available through June 30, 2020.

I was the GM of a 35+ employee business across three sites and we exclusively used WorkSpaces through zero-clients for all employees. Worked really well for us— fast and cheap scaling, highly secure (important for our heavy HIPAA environment), and surprisingly versatile for many use cases (data entry, contact center, mailroom pack and ship, etc.). Downside is recurring cost, which was $35/station/month in our case, but overall I’d definitely recommend it to anyone.
