Investor Perspective: AI-generated Pitch Decks Really Hurt Your Credibility
Transparent feedback more searchers should hear: AI-generated pitch decks really hurt your credibility. (AI Excel models even more so)
A pitch deck has two purposes:
1) Clearly communicating the key "facts of the case" about the deal (AI can legitimately help with this, but only use it for the executive summary slide)
2) Showing that you deeply understand the business, how it makes money, and the risk/return tradeoffs.
The second piece is much more important. An AI-generated deck suggests to investors/partners/lenders, "I outsourced my thinking to AI."
You will get this stigma even if your deck just *looks* AI-generated.
Yes, it's more work to create a deck manually. And yes, you can use AI to help with parts of it, like taking information you wrote and formatting it nicely.
But if you outsource your thinking to AI, everyone can tell. It's like putting a banner on every slide saying, "I took a thinking shortcut here." (True or not, that's the perception)
