Hello, everyone. I'm Carson, based in the Dallas area. In January, myself and my father decided to acquire a business as a long-term family investment. He has primarily operated a business in the oil & gas sector for most of his career; so we decided that he would provide support and guidance, and I would be taking the lead in day-to-day operations, as well as searching for and evaluating opportunities. We are taking steps to structure as a holdco, but I am functionally a first-time, young searcher. I joined the Searchfunder community to begin to learn about ETA, low-mid market acquisitions, and how the process works, from inquiry to APA. Since then, I have read HBR Buying a Small Business and Stanford Search Fund Studies, clarified my investment thesis and EBITDA range, and have reached out on multiple opportunities (both on here and on other platforms like BizBuySell). I've spent the last few months reading and lurking, but I figured it's finally time to introduce myself. I still consider myself early in the learning process. I'd love to hear from people who came up in a similar background, or anyone in the ecosystem based in Dallas, and learn from your experience over email or coffee.
