Interested in acquiring a financial advisory firm/practice

Does anyone have any experience or advice to offer? I would be interested in having a one-on-one conversation. Looking in the Philadelphia, PA, area. Ideal target would be small independent firm with low AUM that is struggling in the current environment and looking for injection of capital.

Hey Alan - interesting proposition! I previously worked at JPM Asset Management covering RIAs. 1) It's a very relationship focused business, if the owner serves as a financial advisor it could be a tough transition, 2) One idea is that the capital injection could be interesting if it involves merging 2+ firms with different areas of focus. 3) Bringing on a partner with either a strong FA/relationship value-add or investment/manager selection expertise could make the offer more enticing. Either way, I'd be interested in brainstorming and seeing how you're thinking about the opportunity!

Interesting. I've seen some on the West Coast but none in PA. I'm curious, are you planning to run the firm?
