Hi -
Has any one in the SearchFunder community been through the Pursuant Capital Bootcamp? Would love to hear your experience as I consider joining the bootcamp in September in Florida.
As a self funded searcher, The cost is the determining factor for me as I decide on pursuing the bootcamp. I am currently actively searching for a business to acquire and looking primarily for a community of searchers/operators in the self-funded world.
In my MBA program at INSEAD, I did a few internships with Traditional Search Funds and Investors so understand the high level process but looking more for a community of self-funded searchers.
Appreciate the insights. Thanks!
Self funded search vs traditional and everything in between has been a topic in our group recently.
We hopped on a Zoom call last week to have a quick chat and it got pretty deep!
Coming from the startup world, one of my concerns with self-funded search is the amount of emphasis on watching every penny spent. That's what we do in startups when we're bootstrapping.
It makes it hard to really do what's needed for a successful search if you don't have a stockpile of cash somewhere. You second guess every investment you need to make in the business.
It's not impossible to be successful by far, but every decision goes through the "should I pay for this?" filter and sometimes we talk ourselves out of it because of the cost, even if it would be helpful.
I don't know all the answers, just sharing some of the thoughts.
I've heard good things about Pursuant, but I haven't had personal experience myself.
Ask some of the women in our Women in ETA slack channel as well.
Good luck in your search.
