When narrowing your industry focus, what criteria ended up mattering more in practice than you initially expected?

I’ll echo what a few others have said on this platform— fragmentation. It’s easier to search in an industry with lots of businesses, especially smaller ones that aren’t appealing to a larger corporate acquirer.
