What resources do searchers typically use to conduct industry research? Specifically, I am wondering what searchers use to conduct deeper industry diligence on relatively small sub-verticals of industries.

Searchers now have access to IBISWorld industry research reports in Searchfunder. IBISWorld covers 1,300+ US industries across all major sectors and niche and emerging markets. I manage the relationship for IBISWorld and am available to assist if you have questions on report content.

A couple quick thoughts here. 1.) I try and use the Owner as much as possible. He or she should be able to clearly articulate the sustainable competitive advantage of the company, the total addressable market, why customers would buy from a competitor etc. 2.) I find people who used to work for a competitor (to your prospective target) on linkedIn and talk with them about the industry, competition, growth opps, etc.
