I’m Back. And I’ve Been Building.
Search Funder Fam! I’ve missed you all. I’m officially back and active on Searchfunder, and I’m excited to reconnect with one of the best business-buying communities and platforms out there. There’s always a lot of activity here, but I’ve also been pretty heads-down behind the scenes. Over the past year, I’ve been building around a simple observation: Finding a great business is only one part of successfully acquiring one. The real challenge is building the infrastructure around the deal to move from opportunity → acquisition → value creation → eventual exit. That’s where I’ve been focused. 1. White-Glove Off-Market Deal Sourcing We’ve been developing a proprietary, high-touch sourcing capability designed to help acquisition entrepreneurs and Independent Sponsors identify quality businesses that may never reach the traditional market. The goal isn’t simply to produce more deal flow. It’s to produce **better-fit deal flow** based on the buyer’s acquisition criteria, capital profile, operating capabilities, and long-term objectives. 2. Deepening Capital Partner Relationships I’ve also spent significant time developing relationships across the capital ecosystem. Senior lenders. Private credit. Family offices. SBICs. Strategic capital partners. Other sources of acquisition financing. One thing I’ve learned: Capital shouldn’t be an afterthought once you have an LOI. The strongest acquisition strategies think about the capital structure early. What can the business support? What does the debt need to look like? How much equity is actually required? Where does seller financing or rollover fit? What does the capital partner need to believe before committing? The answer to those questions can materially influence whether a deal gets done. 3. Strategic Post-Close Value Creation Partnership (My personal favorite) Finally, we’ve been building the next piece of the equation. Acquiring a company is not the finish line. It’s the beginning. We’re developing a strategic partnership with a value-creation firm that works with owners after close to improve operations, strengthen the organization, professionalize the business, and ultimately increase enterprise value. Because the objective shouldn’t simply be: “How do I buy this company?” It should be: “How do I acquire the right company, capitalize it properly, build it into a better business, and eventually create a valuable exit?” That’s the ecosystem I’ve been quietly building. Sourcing → Capital → Acquisition → Value Creation → Exit And I’m excited to bring more of that work back into this community. I’ll be sharing more of what I’m learning along the way: particularly around acquisition financing, capital structures, underwriting, off-market sourcing, and what I believe experienced operators should be thinking about *before* they sign an LOI. My goal isn’t to be classified as just another “intermediary” for Independent Sponsors or acquisition entrepreneurs. It’s to be apart of your team internally, a guy and team you can rely on to help lead you to success. Whether it’s your first close or 5th close, my role is to help you win. For those I’ve connected with before, I’m looking forward to reconnecting. For those I haven’t met yet, say hello. The next chapter is underway. Let’s get active, I am excited to be back!
