I know there are a lot of tools available to make your life easy, but just in case you don't have the time and skills to build a website for yourself and you reach out to a professional.

What do you think should be the ideal budget you should be spending in getting your website professionally built which includes the theme, written content, and development of the website?

PS - If you already have a website built, share it in the comments, along with what you have spent to get it to build (if you are comfortable in sharing).

As everyone above has mentioned - it could be such a wide variety, depending on what you'd like to live on / keep track of / have others do on it. May be easier for you to narrow the project spend down if you had an example site (thematic + size + usage). Collecting emails from other sources - may simply need a landing page a la Carrd or ConvertKit, could be built with templates via SquareSpace, Wix, Wordpress, Github Pages, or bit more customizable but drag/drop like Webflow. Webapps off of lists Sheet2Site or Bubble or Softr.... The list is endless, so it's tough to narrow down without knowing what you mean when you say "website".

Exactly what Adam said.

If you have the time and know how you can make a very quick and simple site from Django and Heroku with little interactivity, if that is all you need then it's acceptable.

In fact, for a nominal fee you can build out a very simple static page in GitHub and it hosts for free (you would need to pay for a name change). I understand you are looking to outsource; however, building a basic page can be very easy if you take the time.
