The research was done during the height of the #MeToo movement. So, it's possible results would have been different, if done at a different time.

If investors are more likely to respond to a cold email from a woman or someone who is Asian, but they appear to be less likely to eventually fund projects run by people from those groups, that seems to confirm that women and people of color have to do more work (i.e., prepare for and attend an in-person meeting) for a lower chance of reward.

But still, the study is not entirely discouraging. And the Me Too and Times Up movement has had a large role in encouraging me to TRY.

I'd love to see more data on the investors who got the emails -- # of female GPs, specific mandates to invest in PoC / women, etc. Cool research!
