How useful is 2-way email integration in a CRM?

I'm new to CRMs and in the process of selecting one. Based on peoples' experience, how useful was the 2-way email integration feature? I'm wondering for folks, especially those with more targeted geographies/industries, spent most of their time using their native email client.
