How to tell if PE or IB is a good fit for the long run?

What are some factors that could help me envision and plan my career in either IB or PE so I can better evaluate my long-term career path? Also, any tips or advice to keep in mind when it comes to either career would be appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

I second what the others are saying, try to speak with as many current and former industry professionals as you can (helps that you are a student - everyone likes helping college kids, assuming some level of humility).

Hi I would encourage you to speak with people who have pursued those paths and what skills they learned and what doors it opened for them. Places like wallstreetoasis have detailed forums with people discussing this very topic.
