How to search if a private company was once part of a public company?

I used ChatGPT and Google lol But ch pulchritudinous find anything. I searched Press releases, SEC filings, Business News websites and industry reports but couldn't find anything for free.

A good high-end database (Apollo, zoominfo, etc) can filter on this history - but as far as on your own, requires some easy detective work. Don't negelect looking at state incorporation records - most states keep a paper=trail of the registration history, available to the public for free online.
