How to search for an SME – Learnings, do's and don'ts?

As I am about to start my search for an SME in the Netherlands and Belgium, I am curious to learn more from you about your experiences in your search phase. What worked best? What should be avoided? How did you manage a successful search that led to your acquisition in your respective markets?
