Hi, I'm a former GM for banks and insurance startups who's now starting a search in Spain, the self-funded way. My idea is to speak to companies and potential investors in paralell to accelerate the process. I've already talk to some funds but I'm looking to speak to individual investors at this stage. Any advice on where to get started? Thank you!

Try looking on SearchFunder previous people that have fun raised in Spain. They can give you very specific context. Are there also conferences that you can go to because often investors are there and service providers can be really helpful because they might know contacts that their previous clients have used. I wouldn't limit at myself to just events for search funding, for example, family office other events fundamentally about deploying capital & increasing return can be really good. I found events where there are lots of billionaires & funds , looking for money to deploy. They know nothing about the search model, they can see an opportunity, and that's enough for them to say yes.

Build relationships with the traditional search fund investors (there are a lot of spanish players), engage them over the duration of your search, they will be happy to participate in a good deal once identified. You can reach out to them via linkedin/email, and often they will introduce you to each other
