Anyone want to comment on the best ways to answer that asked-or-latent question?

It underscores the natural apprehension business owners have when searchers, out-of-the-blue, contact owners about potentially selling their company (btw, to a stranger).

I'm with an M&A advisory firm, so the nature of the outreach is a bit different, but I like to explain that my firm has worked successfully with similar companies in the past and that I simply stumbled across their company while researching the industry and figured it wouldn't; hurt to reach out.

^redacted‌ - What I like most about your approach is your reputation shines what searchers present to potential targets. It has been a good door-opener for me, too. (As you know, there are other productive tactics. Maybe we’ll see them in this commentary.)
