Hidden books. Hidden problems.
This is why we verify — even when brokers say there's nothing else.
Consolidated books. Clean P&L. Multiple revenue lines.
But something didn't add up. The line items felt off.
I asked the broker directly: "Is there another set of books?"
"No. Everything's in that one set."
Two weeks later, I told my client to ask the seller the same question.
The seller's response: "Oh yeah, we have a different set of books for the third entity. Did you need that?"
Not providing extra data is one thing. Lying about what exists is something else entirely.
This is why we don't take brokers at their word. We verify. We dig. We ask the uncomfortable questions — even when the broker says there's nothing left to find.
