Hi all! I’ve started my self funded search - I’ve raised some capital and about 40% or so to my goal. I’ve been contemplating working with a company like Acquira or the Acquisition lab. Acquira seems interesting because they have their own fund in the event I come up short it would be nice to have a level of comfort there. However Acquisition lab seems more established. Would love any feedback.

I think Acquira falls into the accelerator category and they seem to be hyper targeted to hvac/plumbing/resi services but their equity split and support model is attractive. They publish their active searchers on their site so I’d suggest reaching out directly to those handful of people to get the inside take.

Acquisition Lab looks a lot more like a mastermind / training and networking group to help you learn ETA and connect you to potential mentors.

Source: I’ve spoken with the Acquira team in the past - have never engaged with Acquisition Lab outside of their website and ads

This is going to sound contrarian, but I doubt much of the information or guidance provided by those businesses couldn't be found for free on this forum and other websites. The benefit seems to be in the packaged nature of it, almost like taking an ETA class. If you're the type of person who benefits from that structure, it might be worthwhile to you. But this entire ecosystem tends to favor a scrappier approach.
